Norwalk Community School District issued the following announcement on Jan. 8.
Norwalk Junior, Bowen Born scored 19 points in a Warrior 77-46 victory over Newton on Dec. 21st and in so doing, he surpassed 1,000 points in his high school career. Bowen becomes only the fourth player in Norwalk basketball history to reach the 1,000 point plateau, joining Tom McFarland (Class of 1080 with 1,069 career points), Alex Dorr (Class of 2009 with 1,380) and Norwalk’s all time scoring leader, 2018 graduate Luke Vaske with 1,579 career points.
On January 4th, the Warriors rolled to an easy 77-50, Little Hawkeye Conference victory on Friday over the visiting Grinnell Tigers. Norwalk jumped out to a 21-6 first quarter lead and were never really threatened after that as Jr. Tyler Johnson dropped in a team high 26 points on 10-14 shooting including going 5-8 from beyond the arc. Jr. Bowen Born had 18 and Sr. Tyler Endres contributed a double-double with 18 pts and 12 rebounds. The victory improved the Warriors’ overall record to 8-3 and they are now 5-1 in conference play. Norwalk will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 11th, when they travel to DCG for a conference matchup with the Mustangs.
